Target 101

Target is a great place to shop because you can stack manufacturer’s coupons with Target coupons. They also have gift card deals and special purchases that make great deals.

Target Coupon Policy

You can read the Target Coupon Policy to find out how you can use coupons at Target. I recommend printing a copy of this policy to bring with you while shopping.

Here are some specific points that you should be aware of when shopping at Target.

• Only use 4 identical coupons per household per day
• We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item
• We do not accept internet coupons for free items with no purchase requirements
• If a Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon may be used on the first item
• If a Manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item
• If you return an item that you purchased with a coupon, you will get the coupon amount on a Target gift card

Types of Target Coupons

There are 4 different sources of Target coupons.

• Coupons from inserts
• Home mailers
• Target web coupons
• Target mobile coupons

Sometimes you will find Target coupons in your Sunday inserts along with manufacturer coupons. These are almost always regional.

You can also get coupons from Target in the mail. Don’t ask how to get on their mailing list because I don’t think they even know how.

Target web coupons are the most common Target coupons. You can go HERE to print them. These normally say 1 per transaction, while inserts and home mailers will not.

Some Target web coupons are store coupons and some are manufacturer coupons. You can find out which is which before printing by looking at the link of the image on the coupon. A Target coupon will have the word “Target” in the link and a manufacturer coupon will have “manufact” or the name of a company in the link. In Chrome, I find out by right clicking on the picture and clicking “Open image in new tab” and then look at the image link in the address bar.

You can get Target mobile coupons sent to your phone by going HERE or by texting “COUPONS” to 827438. These are all Target store coupons. You can also get Target coupons from some apps like Shopkick.

Target Gift Card and Special Purchase Deals

Target almost always has gift card deals and special purchase deals going on. Some are in the weekly ad and last for a week but others last longer.

For gift card deals, the price before coupons has to be greater than the amount of the gift card. So if the deal is for a $5 gift card for buying 3 items and you find a $1 item that works for the gift card, you could buy 2 $1 items but the last item would have to be over $3 for you to get the gift card.

Special purchase deals at Target are usually like buy 5 of item X, get item Y FREE. You can always use coupons on X but using coupons on Y will be YMMV (your mileage may vary).
