Crockpot Shredded Pork Recipe

I found a pork shoulder at the store for .99/lb and knew it would be perfect for shredded pork or pulled pork. That’s the cheapest meat I’ve seen other than chicken so I had to pick it up and try it. Turns out my store has it for $1.49/lb all the time so I will definitely be getting more and making this recipe again. Plus this recipe was super easy since it just cooks in the crockpot all day.

My husband didn’t want make to make shredded pork until he heard what I was going to put in it.  Now I think he would be happy having this all the time.
crockpot shredded pork

1 pork butt or shoulder, 4 to 5 lbs
2 medium yellow onions
4 medium garlic cloves
1 cup chicken broth
1 Tbsp packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Cut up the onions and garlic and put them in the bottom of your crock pot with the chicken broth. Mix the other ingredients and rub all over the pork. Place in crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 10 hours or until you can easily pull the pork apart with a fork.

When the meat is cooked, shred it with 2 forks. Serve on a bun with BBQ sauce.

  9. This looks so yummy. I loved pulled pork, but I always mess up. It never just pulls apart for me. :( Maybe it is a wrong cut of meat, who knows. But I will have to try again with this one.
    Thank you
